ANDY POSER

The long awaited Kenyan Premier League U20 tournament is set for launch on the 17th of April 2016. The tournament comprises of all the teams playing in the premier league. Majority of the teams have already set up open trials giving youngsters an opportunity to be part of those teams, thus having a chance to showcase their talents. This tourney will also give the senior teams and national team coach a chance to scout for outstanding players. Interested participants should go for trials at the respective home grounds of the teams. With the new management of the Football Kenya Federation we are hoping that there will be no cases of corruption like age forging. This tournament is a good way of keeping the young guys busy during the April holidays. We are urging all football fans to come out and cheer these teams as they do with the senior teams. May the best players be selected and the best team declared the winner.

Fun outdoors.

images(6)

Lucy Kiragu

Contrary to popular belief, music and movie lovers can interact with other people outside movie theatres and music concerts. But let’s be honest, the interaction has to have something to do with music or movies.

To get these music and movie fanatics to go outside and smell the fresh air, there is an outdoor event that I created. This event is definitely going to be fun and there is no age restriction. All are welcome and to make things even better, there is no entry fee.

The whole event is all about music and movie reviews so there will be tablets in every allocated station with a wide variety of songs and movie trailers.

People have to be in groups so there will be a random selection of who will be in which group. Each group has to review at least three movies and three songs and they will critic their work on a make shift stage.

This event will make people get to meet new people who share the same interest as them. To all music and movie lovers, I hope to meet you on 11th April.

This events purpose is to help the Kenyan youths take their place in the country’s politics. They have greatly ignored their role and thus need to be reminded. The event will be a debate and the participants will be youths from the age of 18-35 yrs. It is believed that only bringing the youths together will help them realize their role and potential. Through debating talents will be realized and solutions to some national problems will be obtained. The youths have skills which they have nobody to assist them in perfection. It is also intended to equip the participants with courage and skills that are required in the National Assembly by the lawmakers of the nation. This day will involve youths from different regions in the country as a way of uniting Kenyans and curbing tribalism which is a national disaster. The debate has been organized and funded by the NYS so as to help the youths who are leaders and not politicians.

Why Fit In?

Olive Nyakio

Fashion is a popular thing for a period of time. It keeps changing and developing. Although fashion trends at times look similar, they differ according to different people and they keep on recurring. All fashions are futile. They have a tendency to filter downwards. They spread from the rich to the poor and from the advance to the prosperous countries to the backward and poor ones. By the time fashion has reached from one class or country to another, it tends to be discarded by the class or country which originated it. Many of those who try to be in fashion do know that it is fleeting. But even then they are madly followed as if nothing on earth matters more. Nothing brings out the tyranny of fashion better than this fact.
The fashion-loving do not care even for their time. They have no sense of its value. Fashionable men and women waste much of their time daily in makeup and dressing up. Modern girls for example waste hours applying lipstick, rouge powder and beauty aids. They must o their hair according to the latest style, however ridiculous it may be. They would go to bed with their hair well oiled so that there may be no need of oil the next day and they may go out with their hair dry, according to fashion. Studies may suffer but who cares for it?

How Influential is Fashion?

Olive Nyakio

Everybody is fashion conscious. For stylish is more than just the clothes, it’s a lifestyle. Mostly fashion is popular among school boys and girls (students). They do it in a competitive spirit to look smart, up to date and attractive. Students are really carried away by actors and actresses and trend to imitate what they put on(latest fashion) that is the latest cut, color and design of which they tend to spend a lot of money for the sake of variety. They waste the hard-earned money of their hardworking parents who are on the other end burdened with fashion bills.
These students have the notion that being fashionable is the only real passport to high society and popularity in the college. Boys for example like new and fashionable clothes that they adopt in films. Their way of walking, talking and behavior sometimes even gestures are according to the film action. They want to wear loose and tight pants, their hairstyle too changes especially the wealthy and affluent students want to look different.
It is due to fashion that the society has been divided in various parts like upper class, middle class and lower class. Its true that fashion builds up our personality and grows up our confidence level but then we all forget that fashion is not what you wear and its not how you wear it, but its more about who you are.

University clubs

Lucy Kiragu

Universities all have clubs in them where students can go to interact with each other and also have fun.

Multimedia University of Kenya also have a variety of clubs in them. I had an interview with Mercy Boretor who is a well known student in the university and also a member of the Journalism Club which is in the school.

The club challenges the intellectual knowledge of its members by having quizzes and debates about current issues going on in the country and also across the world.

The club isn’t all about work. They like to unwind from time to time by engaging in fun activities because after they have exercised their minds, the students like to play and have fun.

Their type of fun include rating of movies and music and also games which gets their blood running and having competitive fun.

The Journalism Club in Multimedia University is also a close fraternity where the students get to know each other and they become like a family. Every family has fun and are close knit and that is what you will find in the Journalism Club.

Batman v Superman

Lucy Kiragu

People love superhero movies and an amazing superhero movie would have to be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In this movie, people start to doubt Superman, who is played by Henry Cavill, because all he brings is catastrophe.

Batman, who is played by Ben Affleck, does not like the chaos that Superman has brought to earth because he is causing more harm than good. So Batman decides that the new enemy on earth that he has to eradicate is Superman.

The world is trying to decide which hero is better for them while Superman and Batman are at war. Meanwhile, Lex Luther creates a new villan called Doomsday who threatens to destroy Metropolis.

Superman and Batman have to put aside their differences and save mankind from impending danger. These two get help from Wonder Woman, who is played by Gal Gadot.

This movie is amazing because the two heroes that we love are constantly at each others throats and we are not sure who we should route for and who we should label as the bad guy.
